JESS BAGNALL

BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science

I have worked in the fitness world since 1999 and I have been teaching pilates since 2006. I graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1999 and went on to coordinate the 140 weekly classes of the University’s renowned Active Lifestyles Program before pursuing a dream to further my athletics training in Australia.

I thoroughly enjoyed combining personal training and teaching spinning, body conditioning, circuit classes and aerobics with competing at regional level in track athletics, but a back injury made me re-think my approach to exercise. I discovered pilates and haven’t looked back!

Alongside pilates, I love to run and have raced in 11 marathons worldwide. Locally, I run on the fells in the rugged Yorkshire Dales.

After gaining mat and reformer certification with STOTT PILATES in 2006 I went on to teach in village halls throughout the Yorkshire Dales.

As I discovered more and more about pilates and added further apparatus training to my repertoire, establishing a fully equipped studio was a natural progression. My studio is in Ingleton at the foot of Ingleborough in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park.

I am always learning through an ongoing program of self practice and continuing education and I have completed the following courses:

  • Injuries and Special Populations
  • Arc barrel, ladder barrel and spine corrector
  • Cadillac
  • Chair
  • Shoulder girdle stability and function
  • Pilates with the circle, weighted balls, soft ball and band
  • Armchair pilates
  • Pre natal and post natal pilates
  • Matwork for breast cancer rehabilitation
  • Pilates for scoliosis management
  • Pilates for osteoporosis management
  • Flexion free pilates
  • Athletic conditioning on the reformer
  • Matwork interval training

I am passionate about quality movement and the power of exercise. My desire to spread the word about pilates and to reach more people has led me to create a library of pilates videos. These videos are easy to follow with clear instructions to achieve the best results.

As a pilates teacher my job is to enhance your quality of movement, to strengthen your body, improve your posture and give you greater confidence in what you can physically achieve.

At the very heart of my teaching is a deep respect and admiration for the original lifelong work of Joseph Pilates (1883-1967) whose dedication and ingenuity have resulted in millions of people experiencing the life changing effects of this astounding method of movement.
